Chairperson/Deputy Chairperson Office

What do we do?

This office works on initiatives carried out by the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and Special Operations Officer. We oversee and conduct the Council's advocacy and activism work which includes researching developing current issues as well producing and analysing survey results on them. Beyond that, the office also looks into developing greater engagement with student societies by working on new initiatives such as UKEC-TalentCorp LEAD (Leadership Exploration and Development Programme), UKEC Impact Hub, and UKEC Rewards.

Job scopes

◆ Research and produce reports on student activism and areas of expansion for UKEC
◆ Assist the office in handling UKEC Reward, UKEC-TalentCorp LEAD Programme and Impact Hub.

UKEC Reward : A point system to incentivise Malaysian student organisations to engage more with UKEC.
UKEC-TalentCorp LEAD Programme: Our first leadership programme initiative in collaboration with Talent Corp.
UKEC Impact Hub: A platform to recruit ad-hoc committee for special initiatives and to host public figures/company representatives who would like to engage with the students.

◆ Assist the Deputy Chairperson in working with representatives of Malaysian societies.
◆ Part of the ad-hoc team that works on new initiatives with external parties
◆ Network with external parties such as company representatives, governmental institutions, public figures and British Malaysian Societies.
◆ Prepare survey and analyse survey results

Secretariat Office

What do we do?

The secretariat office is the engine of UKEC dealing with administrative aspects of the organisation that keeps the council up and running, as well as overseeing all behind-the-scenes work. Our main objective is to ensure smooth internal and external communication and efficient operation of the council.

Job scopes

◆ Oversee the whole council’s work and ensure smooth operation
◆ Handles and oversee the task delegation to the Executive Council members
◆ Ensure a well ordered internal and external communication
◆ Organise UKEC’s general meetings (Ordinary & Annual), and assist planning and execution of all UKEC’s events
◆ Deal with external enquiries and correspondence
◆ Produce templates, forms, and paperwork of the Council

Treasury Office

What do we do?

The Treasury Office provides the financial oversight and planning of the council to ensure its sustainability and smooth-running. We are the financial controller of the council. Our main objective is to maintain sustainability of funds for UKEC daily operation and flagship events.

◆ Allocates and distributes funds for each office, event and initiative
◆ Facilitates transactions and reimbursements

UKECareers

What do we do?

UKECareers acts as the careers and employability arm of UKEC in order to achieve UKEC's vision of tackling brain drain in Malaysia. We work with our partner, GRADUAN, to host the Malaysian Career Fair, one of UKEC's flagship event. In addition, UKECareers also hold networking events and skill building workshops in order to boost the employability of Malaysian graduates.

UKECares

What do we do?

UKECares is the charity and volunteering branch of UKEC, aiming to champion nation building through community and humanitarian development. We strive to make our Malaysian community better by educating young Malaysians in the importance of humanitarian values and compassion for others. In the past, we’ve had numerous successful projects which now are independent and run on their own, the Kalsom Movement being one of them. Currently, we are running the Summer Volunteering Programme, Sharing the Kindness and UKECares Check.

Job scopes

◆ Responsible for the welfare of the Malaysian-based societies and the Malaysian students studying across the UK and Ireland. Contributing to ensuring adequate welfare of Malaysian-based societies and Malaysian students studying across the UK and Ireland.
◆ Provide chances for the Malaysian students to giveback to the community by creating and informing the Malaysian students in the UK and Ireland on the volunteering opportunities available to them.
◆ Responsible for the council’s welfare by ensuring the wellbeing of council members.
◆ Assist Secretariat Office with task delegation to ensure it is balanced amongst council members

UKECatalyst

What do we do?

UKECatalyst is the intellectual arm of UKEC. We serve the purpose of nurturing and encouraging young Malaysian intellects in the UK to participate in intellectual discussions to catalyse nation building through youth empowerment. We are the proud organiser of Projek Amanat Negara (PAN), the largest intellectual dialogue for Malaysian students in the UK and Ireland, where it acts as a platform for discussion and engagement between Malaysian student leaders and prominent figures.

◆ Spearhead the council to organise Projek Amanat Negara (PAN), and pre-PAN and post-PAN with Regional Chairpersons.
◆ Conduct surveys and research on issues and interests of the students that can be discussed in PAN and other intellectual discourse initiatives.
◆ Manage and support UKEConversation Facebook group including initiating intellectual discussions.
◆ Work with think-tanks and other research bodies to prepare content of PAN events.

What do we do?

UKEConnect is responsible for the branding of UKEC and remains as one of the most diverse arm of the council. We strive to reach out to as many Malaysian students as possible in the UK and Ireland, to develop student activism and national unity. We at UKEConnect explore new avenues in approaching students both at regional and personal level, working hand in hand with Malaysian societies, ensuring that our events remain accessible to students regardless of distance, boundary and portability.
