BUZZ – Electoral Reform

BUZZ is a new initiative by the UKEC to empower student voice on national issues. In line with our vision to promote non-partisan intellectual discourse, this project provides a platform for students to bring forward their opinions and engage with each other constructively. The concept would be a round-table dialogue between students, without involving any speakers.

In anticipation of the 13th General Election, a Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on Electoral Reform, consisting representatives from government and opposition, has been set up to improve our electoral system.

The underlying question is, how are these reforms being perceived by us, the younger generation?

The first edition of BUZZ will be on the Electoral Reform. We will be discussing and exchanging views among ourselves on issues such as the recommendations by Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on Electoral Reform, demands by BERSIH and case studies in other countries.

An info pack containing the background of these issues will be provided for discussion.
